classic analogue dub sound effects synthesizer
The Sound of Dub
A dub siren is a classic sound effects generator originally used in early dub music though they are still widely used in the genre today. Our dub siren sound engine is based on a classic siren circuit using two square wave oscillators generated by 555 timer IC's. Our circuitry is 100% analogue creating a rich, warm sound. See the design section for more details.
Every dub siren has five sound manipulation knobs for controlling pitch, modulation, speed, tone width and volume. There is a toggle switch used to select whether the siren is in 'free-run' mode or 'trigger' mode. In trigger mode, the siren only activates when you tap an illuminated LED push button switch (useful for creating rhythmical dub bleeps and short burst fx). In free-run mode, the siren outputs constantly. Check out the audio demo's of our dub sirens in the mp3 section.
Each dub siren is housed in a unique vintage tin giving it a classic retro look and heaps of character. Even the knobs are vintage looking to keep in style with the casing. We try not to use the same style of enclosure twice to keep your dub siren unique. However, if you require a particular style then (depending on availability) we will strive to build one to your specification.
If you happen to come across your own enclosure then we do offer a service to custom fit the dub siren electronics within it. See the custom casing section for more details.
